Friday night college football with UMHB vs Albright College. This would be my first ever college game and it was no where near any expectations I had and really took me for a surprise. I shot on a mirror less Canon M5 using a few different lenses to get the right shot. For the majority of the first half of the game I used ISO 200 shutter speed 1/400, and used the f-stop to control the exposure of the shot.

The first thing I noticed was the crowd. Bigger, louder, and more involved with the game going on compared to a high school game. It seemed like everyone their actually came for the game and not just because one of their other friends went, but because all of their friends went.

Once the game took off it only took mere minutes into the game 'till the first touchdown was scored by UMHB. The crowd was going insane and that was the moment when I truly felt what football meant to these people. The picture below is a good example of a problem I found myself in where once someone got in a certain range after already being focused on it tends to loses its focus as the players got closer. This led to a lot of great shots being thrown away because of how out of focus they were.

Half time came around and by then the score was 17-9. The people were ecstatic. Now it was time for the Saderbelles to show off on the field. Their were also some honors given and a good performance all around.

Once again the game was off. In the second half the only real change I did was use ISO 800. It was only a matter of time until the first score by UMHB and by the end of third quarter it was 33-15.

The action seemed only to get more intense and the hitting was getting harder. their were times where you could here the clashing of helmets from the other side of the field. If I remember correctly, 3 of the Albright players were taken off the field by the end of the game. Surely demoralizing their will to play.

The energy stayed throughout the night with UMHB as their cheeleaders and the Saderbelles kept up their spirits. At this point I was shooting at ISO 1250 but the lighting was amazing as the reflections off the building from the stadium lights reflected back making it perfect for shooting.

By the end of the game UMHB won going 56-15 ending with some surprising fireworks. This was an experience that I will never forget and I learned a lot about taking photos at events through this that I will be able to use in my future. The game ended around 9 but it felt like an eternity of constant movement on and off the field. By the end of the game I had taken close to 6000 shots, narrowed it down to 110, and then finally down to these 23 I have edited and posted.
